4th of July Week: Toddler Style

If you know me, you know that I love the Holidays. Really, it's any Holiday and any reason to celebrate and have fun...oh, throw in a BBQ and chilled Sangria and I'm there!

I'm off work on Thursday and Friday - so I figured it'd be fun for IV and I to plan some festive activities for the three days prior to the 4th of July.

I'm so excited for all three activities - but really, really excited for the Scavenger Hunt.

A boy and his cars

As you all know, my sweet IV turned two in April. This Summer has been nothing less than amazing. We have such a great time spending our days together - I sometimes have to pinch myself because I feel so lucky that I'm able to work and be with my boy.

I sometimes find myself starring at him as he plays with his cars. Normally he'll look up at me and say "No, no, no, Mama" - like I'm bothering him {see above}.

But the concentration on his face is priceless. I would love to know what he's thinking when he becomes so consumed with his cars. 

Besides books and flash cards - these cars are the ONLY toys he takes out and plays with during the day - unless, of course, we are outside or not home. It's crazy for me to see people post pictures of messy playrooms with toys scattered everywhere. It's just not the norm for me/us. We have a basement chock full of toys. Some are from Christmas, still wrapped because I know he won't play with them. He LOVES his cars that much. 

I just adore capturing these moments - to be able to share with IV later in his life. Stew's Mom often tells me that he was just like this as a two year old. I love that. 

Changes

I've updated my blog "look" again and even re-named it. Why? I'm not sure. We still have a dog (Nate), but I just needed a change. Sorry to drop you from the title, Nate.

I haven't enjoyed sitting down and talking about life lately - and I'm not 100% sure why. Life is great right now - but I do have a lot of my mind and a lot going on...which I promise to sit down and write about soon.

So for now - I have some more tweaking to do, but I'm in love with the new, fresh look of "Mama, III and IV".

I feel like I can't seem to find the time to write or even post pictures...but this Sunday I'm in my office catching up on emails and I'm blogging at the same time.

So here we go...

1. Stew and I ran our first 5 mile race!

Done: 44:32 (under our 45 minute goal)

Fathers Day | 2013

Happy Father's Day, Stew! 

GQ magazine cover, matted and framed it for Hubs new office. I know he'll love it as much as I do. 

And - I know I've been MIA lately, I'm getting back to it and I have a lot of catching up to do.

Stay tuned. 

Mothers Day 3K

On Mothers Day, my Mom and I spent the morning running her first 3K race. What an amazing experience for us both. To be able to encourage my mom to keep going...take deep breaths and just enjoy the whole experience was the best. We started in a baseball stadium, rounded the warning track, out the stadium, down the road and then circled the outside of the ball park before coming back in again. On two corners we saw my Dad, sister, Stew and IV. At one point we even got to hi-five IV as he yelled "Baaaa" on the way by (he calls my Mom, Ba).

My mom's goal was under 25 minutes. We finished in 23:45. My Mom finished 18th out of 39 in her age group! Outstanding job, Mom!

Lil Kicker

On Saturday, IV had his first morning of soccer camp/lessons. It was somewhat surreal. I know that sounds crazy...it's just a measly soccer camp/class. But watching him walk out onto the field - he looked so grown up. He was out there doing things I didn't realize he could do. I had tears in my eyes...yet so proud. He is growing up and I'm on the sidelines watching him become such a big boy. It just made me realize that I and we will have so many more of these days....where I'm on the sideline watching him do what I taught him to do. Ok. ok...I'm now whipping my tears.
