8 Week Update

Ok - get use to it...I'm probably going to say this at the start of each post from now on - at least the ones that are all about my baby boy. WHERE IS THE TIMING GOING?!?!? Today my boy is 8 weeks/2 months! I don't want him to keep getting older. I want him to stay just the way he is. As I type this...I'm having coffee and an English muffin, while my boy sleeps. I do need to get him up in a few minutes to eat and get cleaned up. We have his 8 week doctors appointment at 10:30...and he's getting shots! Gasp.

This past weekend was Father's Day Weekend - Stew's 1st Father's Day! I gave Stew his Father's Day gift early...well, because it was just that important.

I mentioned in an earlier post that for Stew's birthday I got him a kegerator. Well, for Father's Day I got him a new tap for his keg and two new beer glasses. To say the least - he was psyched. I know - not very "sentimental", but to us...it was. He LOVED it. See, when we decided to start a family - we said that we weren't going to stop doing the things we love doing. (I'm not saying we LOVE drinking beer...well... I guess we do). And just because we have our little guy in our life, it doesn't mean we can't have a beer while grilling out at night. So there. Ok - where was I? - yes...Fathers Day. I gave Stew his gift on Friday night so that we could try out the new the tap and glasses.

Enjoying Father's Day Weekend by the pool.

Before we hit the pool on Saturday, I had a hair appointment. While I was out - my boys watched the Boston Bruins Parade on TV and went out for a walk. Stew tried out the Bjorn for the first time too! I normally wear him in my wrap, so we haven't tried the Bjorn yet.

This week was busy for me and my little one. We went to the pool, went to the Mall (three times), Target, my office and now today we are heading out for his doctors appointment. 

As I continue to type this - it's 4 hours later and we are back from the Doctors office. Here are his 8 week stats:

12lbs 14oz

24" tall 

3 shots

5 second of crying

1 small throw-up on the nurse

2 Snoopy bandaids

100% healthy!

Our next appointment in at 4 months - and he'll start cereal (if we want).

Many of you have asked how I'm doing - and I'm doing great. I'm still carrying an extra 8 pounds - but I feel great. I'm really not in a rush to try and take those pounds off. I'm wearing my bikini at the pool and most of my clothes from last summer - although, most are too tight in the ta-ta area. I went from a 34 C to a D. Yikes! I'm still breastfeeding/pumping as well - so hopefully I'll get back to my C once we're done.

Not a newborn!

Where is the time going? I had to pack away my boys newborn clothes this weekend!

He's such a joy to be around and such a happy baby! He makes our life so exciting every day.

We had a little heat wave here in New England last week, so we spent our days at my parents pool. I'm so lucky to have a Son that loves the warm weather and the water as much as we do. He loved being outside in the fresh air, loved being in the pool - yes,  he went in the pool and slept like a rock every night.

This week we are back to crappy weather - so we are hanging at home this week...with maybe a few shopping trips here and there.

My sweet baby is starting to smile at Momma! I cried yesterday when he did.

My Big boy is doing so well. He's lifting his head, eating great and sleeping pretty good too. Last night he had his last feeding at 9:00pm and slept until 2 am. I was so proud of him!

His 4 week check up went great. He weighs 10 lbs 9 oz. Next appointment is at 8 weeks!

We are off for a walk so that Momma can work off these last 10lbs - I'll update more in the next few days!



My new role...

...as a Mom is amazing!!!

I was so nervous when I was pregnant. I was always asking myself - how will you know?

How will you know how to "push"?

How will you know what to do?

How will you know how to be a Mom?

How will you know what he needs?

How will you know what to do in a certain situations?

And you know what everyone said in response to these questions?!?!

"Oh - you'll just know". I laughed. Sure I will. (I'm saying that sarcastically - someone needs to invite a sarcasm font by the way)

Well for anyone out there that reads my blog - and is pregnant or planning on having a child - let me tell you...all those people were right. YOU WILL KNOW - so don't worry.

And now I'm going to say it. (Don't judge). Being a Mom to a 4 week old isn't THAT hard. Where does all this "I can't even shower during the day" come from? I shower twice a day if need be. I clean my house, I do laundry, I cook dinner...big dinners too, I WORK. Yes...I work a full time job (from home) and have since getting home from the hospital on April 26th (our son was born on April 24th). We'll discuss this more in a later post. So now that all my readers think I'm crazy - let me explain. Here is what our day looks like:

I'll start at night - because it's easier to explain.

8pm - bath time, tummy time, read a book or just play.

8:30pm - final feeding.

9:00pm - bed time in crib.

1:00am - up for a diaper change and feeding.

3/4:00am - diaper change and feeding.

Now after 4:00am is where it gets tricky - sometimes he'll go back to sleep until 7, feed again then up at 9. But it depends.

After 9:00am we wash up, put on our day outfit and head downstairs. By 10:30 - my Dad arrives with coffee and donuts. Dad and G hang out, while I work, do laundry, shower, or take Nate out for a walk.

My Dad sometimes leaves around 1 to 3pm. G takes a nap and I normally will get dinner ready. The weather has been horrible here, so I haven't been able to sit on the deck or take a walk (until today - it's 80 degrees today).

At 5:30 - Daddy is home from work. G is usually sleeping - so we catch up on our day, make dinner, eat and watch TV. Stew will feed him (I'm pumping), then we'll head up for his bath.

So that's our day. There are some days that I work a bit more while Stew is home...but my home office is in our living room via the laptop - so it's nice. I hope that in the next few weeks I can change our daily routine to something like: "We wake up at 8am, eat, put our bathing suits on and head to my parents pool". I'll need the weather to cooperate though - I'll keep you posted.

Greatest Joy...

There are things, times, days and moments in life that you can never get back...DAYS you will always remember for the rest of your life. MOMENTS that you can't explain...even if you tried. THINGS...the small things that a person does that makes your DAY or even WEEK. TIMES that you enjoy and when you are there - you tear up as you look around...without anyone noticing.

This is that moment, that time, that day, that thing:

I know how lucky I am to have this BIG GUY in my life...my DAD! He has brought me coffee and donuts for the last month...spent the day with me, talked with me, laughed with me and given me moments that I will never forget. I never asked him - he has just always been there.

THANK YOU, DAD!

My boy has his 4 week check up on Friday - I'll update his stats after that.

We had an amazing weekend. We went shopping, walking and even had our first dinner date out to celebrate our 4 year anniversary. I'll update more this week.

4 Years Later...

Four years ago - I married my best friend. Cliche, I know...but it's true. I don't know what my life would be like without Stew. These have been the best 4 years of my life. Hands down.
